Impact of Human Interaction with the Natural Environment

Impact of Human Interaction with the Natural Environment – Previously, we have discussed the relationship between humans and the natural environment. This time we will discuss further about the impact of human interaction with the natural environment.

Humans are part of the natural environment. Not only a place to live, the natural environment also provides natural resources that humans can use to meet their daily needs. Then, what is the impact of human interaction with the natural environment?

Basically, human interaction with the natural environment has only two impacts, positive and negative. Let’s dive in!

Positive and Negative Impact of Interaction

Humans use natural resources to meet the needs of life and increase welfare.

There are natural resources that can be used directly by humans, such as fruits in the forest. However, most natural resources must go through processing before they can be used, such as logs that need to be processed into paper.

Humans when interacting with nature, or human efforts in the management and usage of natural resources have an impact on the natural environment. These impacts can be positive or negative for humans and the environment.

If humans use and manage natural resources wisely, and pay attention to environmental continuity, it will have a positive impact on humans and nature. For example, the extraction of timber resources from the forest by selective logging and replanting efforts.

With selective logging, humans can take wood to meet their needs and also help preserve the forest. The positive impact is that humans can meet the needs of life, the availability of wood resources for the next generation is maintained, and the forest remains sustainable so that the forest ecosystem remains balanced.

However, nowadays many human interactions with the environment have a negative impact. Many people take and use natural resources unwisely and do not pay attention to environmental continuity. For example, logging and burning of forests for plantation and urban development purposes. This has negative impacts such as floods, landslides, and air pollution.

Human behavior that does not respect the environment such as littering, destroying plants, and burning garbage also has a bad impact on the environment. The environment becomes dirty, damaged, and polluted. A damaged environment will have a negative impact on human health, it can even threaten human life.
